Our Annual Feast

Valentine’s Day is such a funny holiday.  When I was single, I would be sad if I did not have a date and now that I am married, my husband and I don’t see it as such a big deal.  However, it doesn’t mean we don’t ignore it.  We now look at Valentine’s Day twofold: 1) a reminder to spend an evening of quality time together, and 2) an excuse to make a feast!

We started the evening by opening a nice bottle of champagne and started the cook-off.  Last night’s feast included dry-aged strip steak, the cooking method of which Jon has perfected, lobster, pommes anna (which we learned to cook at our French Steakhouse cooking class at New York City’s Institute of Culinary Education), and  sugar snap peas….because it made us feel healthier.  🙂  For dessert, I made a pots de crème topped with a crème anglaise sauce, thanks to Julia Child’s recipe.
